So is ET paid to write fluff pieces for every show on television, or what? Who watches that trash anyway? (that’s funny right?). Read some of the attempt they made create further buzz for the show (my commentary in paranteses):
An ‘American ‘Idol’ Incident!(uh. . ok) More than 32 million people tuned in to watch Wednesday night’s “American Idol” San Francisco auditions and were shocked (shocked? hardly. mildly amused? maybe. bored by that time? certainly!) when a battle (more like an attempt to make the show interesting) between the judges made SIMON COWELL stalk out of the room and leave the city! (like the prissy queen he is) “He sure can dish it out,” PAULA ABDUL tells MARY HART on the ET set. “They said Randy and I kept winding him up by saying there was something wrong with his ears. He was being obnoxious to the girl who was singing. He had just had it. Not only did he leave, but he left and took the plane home!” And what is Simon’s take on the situation? “We had a major row,” (oh, please) Simon tells ET. “I got to the point where I said ‘I can’t sit next to you anymore,’ and left. But to be fair, RANDY JACKSON was being obnoxious that day as well. Occasionally, they turn into American music critics. I got to the point I couldn’t sit with them anymore. There’s a point in the day where you just think, ‘There’s no point in me sitting next to you anymore. Do it yourself.’ So that’s what I did.” “He just had a day,” Paula points out. “But then we went to the next city and he was laughing as if nothing happened.” (uh, duh? because NOTHING DID happen.)
Is American Idol derailing this season? Are we just getting tired of all the idiocy? Possibly. At this point, most people understand that virtually every single moment is choreographed, and certainly every moment displayed to the public is calculated for maximum sensationalism. The only authenticity at this point is in some of the young and naive auditioners and soon to be contestants. . .but even most of those folks are plastic mutations of their true selves as they play out their misguided notions how a “celebrity” performs/acts. . . Is this show great, or what?
How stupid is Entertainment Tonight?
