Simon has a new thing this year. I guess after 5 years, he’s a little self-conscious of his reputation as a total asshole. So, now before he slays some poor young person’s self-esteem, he prefaces it with the statement, “I’m not being rude, but . . ” or “Im not trying to be rude, but. . . ” Or, how about “I’m saying this in a nice way, but. . . ” that was absolutely the worst performance I’ve ever heard! Simply appaling! So watch out for prefaces like these this year, because you know the bomb will drop immediately thereafter.

I think Simons true problem is he has no tact. If he would say “In my opinion that was dreadful” instead of saying “I’m not trying to be rude, but… ” , his opinions would be more palatble . The man is a millionaire and I frankly do not think he cares. In my opinion that makes for a pretty ugly person. I think he revels in doling out insults and putting others down. I wonder what a psychiatrist might say about that?…. hmmm.

Simon needs help for what he may not realise yet. 49 is around the age of male menopause. I have watched him literally fawn those over the opposite sex, blond if he can help it, kids who are young enough to be his kids & in asserting as a form of proving his virility, he has perfected the art of putting down those who are out of his narrow range of interest, also that for the genre of music. He’s got to know to let up & apply more tact, and know that the proof of a worthy musician is in the way he handles fellow artistes with sensitivity, particularly in the creative field. I think AI deserves the credit of recently turning him into a millionaire, but he appears to be just a mere bureaucrat. As Simon is human & faulters in his judgement, he is human enough to turn the tide around for himself & recognise the amazing talent in TAYLOR, of the full persona of the deserving winner of AI5.
