Bucky Covington is hard to figure out. . .

Unlike some of the other contestants, Bucky Covington stuck to his nitting on tonight’s first, Top 24 American Idol elimination show for the boys.  He’s got an interesting raspy rocker thing going on. . so much so, I can’t even understand what he says. . but I can see how he will appeal to a certain segment of the listening public.  Bucky sang “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.  I can’t say that I know what the original sounds like but I guess he was pretty believable.  I doubt he will be voted off tonight, but it’s pretty clear that he is not going to fair well further down in the competition when he has to sing non-Lynyrd songs. Randy thought he was pushing his voice to hard but that it was cool.  Paula thought he picked a good song and that there were parts that were off but that he is growing.  Simon actually liked that Bucky as a little “raw” but that he was just like thousands across the country that sing at bars. . . Eh. . . He seems like a good kid, but the jury’s out.
