Gedeon McKinney Doesn't Shout Quite Loud Enough. . .

After seeing Gedeon’s interview clip just before his performance, I thought. . this guy needs to lighten and loosen up.  A little too anunciated.  He chose to sing, “Shout.” This is just the type of song that Simon will call “karaoke.”  And, he would be fair in saying that.  Gedeon pulled out a good performance of this crowd pleaser, but you just can’t sing that on American Idol unless you’re going to take it WAY OVER THE TOP.  It was ok, but definitely under the top, though he got better as he went through it. Randy thought it was unexpected and that it was a good song choice and good choreography.  Randy was entertained but I’m glad he didn’t jump up.  Paula was also surprised and thought it was a great throwback to old performers.  Simon thought it was a warm up for the Chippendales. . .and he doesn’t like Gedeon’s smile. . . I think Simon was just trying to break him down a bit.  And, those comments were a little weird, even for Simon, but Randy and Paula were definitely much easier on the contestants tonight.
