Is Heather Cox Your Hero?

Heather Cox said that, in true Idol Stalker fashion, she chose Mariah Carey’s “Hero” because it has never been performed on the show.  First, she looked very much the Idol part with perfect blonde hair, makeup and fashionable, sleek black outfit.  Second, she chose Mariah Carey?  Message to all idol contestants: . . . don’t try to sing Mariah Carey unless you don’t need American Idol. Her performance was pretty good all things considered and she definitely tried to pull it out on one of the last, long notes. . but again, it was Mariah Carey????? Paula, now in the first seat, was the first of the judges to go.  She said that Heather was much improved but warned her that you can’t take on Mariah Carey lightly and you run the risk of being compared to an Icon.  It was a huge risk, a good performance but not great.  Randy agreed, of course, he works with Mariah.  He loves the “stylized” critique. .   Simon for once agreed with Paula and Randy. . .kind of like a ghastly pageant where just before the finalists arrive somebody gets up and sings a Mariah song or something and it’s a horrible moment. . came across as pointless if you’re not going to do it better or different than the original. . Agreed.  Looks great but less filling.
