So, Melissa is not one of my favorites, but I have to give her some props, because she is pulling it out to overcome her disadvantage of not getting airtime earlier in the show. First, she picked a great song for her in Reba McEntire’s “Why Haven’t I Heard From You.” She looked good, she sounded good, and she really got into the song and the performance. She’s also got one of the more unusual voices in the competition so it may work for her. She actually kinda looks like a young Reba. . . Randy thought it was hot and that she could totally make a record in that style. Paula said that her voice was unique in the competition and she could imagine her on the radio. Simon thought it was the wrong song and doesn’t think she is making a connection with the audience. I think he is wrong about the song choice. Simon has no clue when it comes to country music. But I kind of agree about the connection with the audience. I think she’s coming up though. . Really, we just haven’t seen that much of her and she is not one of those people that you automatically connect with telegenically speaking. But she’s stepping it up, so good for her. Meanwhile, Simon had a hissy fit at Paula, told her to shut up, and said that she always had to play the “precocious child,” which prompted Paula to switch seats with Randy.
