changed her look for the first, American Idol elimination show.  She went from the sweet little girl we knew in audition and hollywood week to a hip, hot young woman in her performance of Gladys Night’s “Midnight Train to Georgia.”  I was a little shocked but very pleasantly surprised.  We saw this new side of her when she got down and very into the performance.  I think she was a little surprised too, as if all that jumping around and being cool was a little distracting to her due to it’s novelty. Anyway, I liked her performance a lot, but I didn’t love it and I definitely don’t think it was the best she can do.  I think she’ll get pretty far, but she needs to be more consistent. . If you saw her audition, you will remember her flawless Billie Holiday.  But her performances since have been mixed, in my opinion. Nonetheless, she rocks and I like her.  And, I very much the new direction she seems to be going in . . (read: she’s been studying Fantasia and her admonition to “Get Ugly.”). Oh, by the way. . . love the hair! Now, Paula gave her a standing ovation.  Randy was also surprised and said he was blown away and that she’s a hot one. . amazing.  Even Simon had nothing bad to say about her. . . Simon said she showed the other girls what they have to do by not playing it safe.  He said that it was a performance that everyone will remember, she was incredibly confident and she reminded Paula of Fantasia. . me too.  Simon summed it up by saying, “it’s not about being good, it’s about being great.  And, that was great.” I agree.  It wasn’t perfect, but it was great.
