Taylor chose to sing “Levon” by Elton John for tonight’s American Idol performance. This was a a good song choice for Taylor even though it is incredibly difficult and Taylor doesn’t quite have the upper register of Elton. I mean, I’m just thinking about Levon. . And, that is an amazing song. Even still, Taylor did pretty well. I wanted him to do it a little more subtley, but I think he tried to amp it up too much about half way through the performance. He’s a tough contestant though, because he’s a great performer and has a very interesting voice but he just doesn’t quite fit the so-called “American Idol” mold as we’ve come to expect it. I mean, he looks like he could be any of the other contestants’ father. Randy thought it wasn’t the best song choice but he loved him and that he loved the performance. Paula gave him a standing ovation and said that she could see his love and passion. . . She and Randy agreed that there’s never been anyone like him on the show. Simon admitted that he was wrong when he said that Taylor shouldn’t make the finals of the competition. Simon said that he has had more positive feedback on Taylor than anyone else on the show. I like him. And, again, I agree with Simon!

I absolutely adore Taylor. To me at this point, he has incredible charisma – something that you can’t describe. I can hardly wait to see more of him. It’ll be interesting to see how he measures up against the other guys as the show progresses.
He’s AWESOME!!!
Yeah. . you can tell that he is just a really cool, nice, likeable guy. I think he’ll go pretty far but I’m just concerned that he’s a little too father figurey so maybe the youger audience won’t relate. . what do people think?
Good question, except that we’re hearing that his appeal has spread across a wider audience now. There are people posting in many forums that they’ve never cared about AI or voting before, who are now saying they’re going to vote for Taylor. There seems to be a huge support from baby-boomers who recognize he possesses one of the most unique pop/rock/soul throwback voices that’s been discovered in the last 3 decades. The requests for songs for him to sing have come pouring in, and they’re all favorite songs from the 60′s/70′s/80′s. Seasoned idol watchers have never seen this kind of popularity explosion happen so early in the season. Whether it propels him to the AI top or not, I don’t know but I think it will.
I have watched every season of American Idol. I have always had favorites but have never been so impressed this early by any one singer. Taylor is amazing and I can’t seem to hear enough of his music. I ordered his CD this weekend and can’t wait for it to arrive. I downloaded his Levon performance and have watched it numerous times. It is evident that Taylor enjoys singing which makes me enjoy watching and listening to him. I can’t imagine American Idol this year without him.
