chose to sing Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground.”  You have to wonder about doing Stevie Wonder.  Chris said that he hoped to mix the Chili Peppers version of Higher Ground with Stevie’s version to make something unique. Before we start, let’s just give a message to the stylists. . Chris needs to keep the scruffy look, not completely clean look.  He’s got a bald head people, we don’t need to see the skin on his cheeks and he definitely DOES NOT need to have his eyebrows plucked like Ryan Seacrest’s.  He is more sexy with the scruffy, dirty thing going on.  You wonder how these stylists can be successful when they are SO CLEARLY STUPID.  We don’t like Chris because he’s clean cut and if you keep it up he will lose. Ok, on with the song.  It was a little difficult to focus on the song while Chris didn’t have any eyebrows.  But, despite the fact that he’d been waxed all to hell, he did great with the song.  I can’t comment on whether it was a good mix of Chili and Stevie, but it was pure to me.  It might have been a little weak in the middle and didn’t top “hemorrhage” but it was certainly one of the best of the night.  But again, I have to say that Chris went down a few notches in the sex appeal factor by letting the stylists de-sexify him. Randy said that he’s is great because he figures out every week how to make it his own.  Paula said she just enjoys him every week.  Simon said “Thank God for Chris.”  Simon said it was the only “real world” performance of the night and that he could have a hit with that one.  He said he made it his own and that it was the best performance of the night.
