Elliott Yamin was in hog heaven Tuesday night on American Idol. He chose to sing Stevie Wonder’s “Knocks Me Off My Feet.” More than anyone else in the competition, Stevie’s music is perfectly suited to Eliott’s voice and style. After Ace and “GASP” Kellie, Elliott seemed like a seasoned professional. As you know, I haven’t really gotten into Elliott so far. But I have to say that I was very impressed with his Stevie performance. He pulled it off really well, getting all the notes and the runs and putting a little style of his own into it. And, of course, everyone was going to love the last big running all over the place note. Randy said it wasn’t his best performance but that it was good and that he added a little at the end. Paula thought it was good, blah, blah, blah . . and that we’ll see more of him. Simon thought it was clearly better than Kellie and Ace but no WOW, warning him that you have to show originality at this stage in the show.
