Kellie Pickler Catches on Fire on American Idol

Oh, sorry. . that was just the backdrop to her performance of Melissa Etheridge’s “I’m The Only One.”  Look, I love Kellie Pickler and even Simon agrees with me that she is the anti-Carrie Underwood (more about that later).  She’s great and she has a lot of potential but she is a young soul, if you know what I mean.  I think she did a pretty good job on the song, and it was courageous and ambitious of her to take it on. . . but it’s Melissa Etheridge?  I think she won quite a few votes when she got down on her knees, though.  Randy like the song choice and thought she did really well, ushering her into the dog pound.  Paula like it too. . . How can you not like Kellie?  Simon summed it up well by saying that she’s not the best singer in the bunch but that she’ll be loved and will sail through.  He called her a “naughty little minx,” which kind of flubbed everyone.  I’m not even really sure what he meant by that. . . But he said that he liked her better than “last year’s winner (i.e., Carrie Underwood)!”  I feel so validated that Simon sees her as the anti-Carrie also. Message to Kellie: Minx:  A girl or young woman who is considered pert, flirtatious, or impudent.
