Lisa Tucker Leaves While Bucky Covington Stays – An American Idol Travesty

What a travesty. It happens every year on American Idol when for some reason good singers get the boot while ones who are obviously less talented stick around. This is what happened this week when Bucky Covington received enough votes to escape the bottom three on American Idol, while Ace Young, Lisa Tucker, and Katharine McPhee all sweated it out to see who would get sent home with the lowest number of votes. Yes, we all know it is not JUST a singing competition. . it’s more of a popularity contest and demographics definitely matter. The three at the bottom probably appeal to a similar audience and thus split that vote, while there are only two contestants that can pull the country vote and they are, of course, Bucky Covington and Kellie Pickler. Now granted Ace hasn’t shined like he should have and probably could have over the season, so I can’t get too upset to see him in the bottom three, but Lisa is exceptional and has no business there before Bucky. Katharine is exceptional also and shouldn’t have been there either, at least while Bucky is still hanging around mumbling. That all said, it’s coming down to the wire and once Bucky goes, and arguably Elliott too, then there will be only good singers remaining. Yes, I said it. Elliott is not a good singer. I’m sorry. I’m tired of feeling like I’m supposed to think he’s great, when he just isn’t. So what if he’s deaf in one ear? I can TELL he’s deaf in one ear! It would be different if he was deaf in one ear and I couldn’t hear it. And, while I’m psyched that he can sing as well as he does given this impediment, he still doesn’t sing well enough for me to care. There, I said it. Flame on. So back to the elimination. It turned out Ace was safe. . no big surprise given the hottie factor, even though he can’t sing anywhere near as good as Lisa or Katharine. So, it was down to Lisa Tucker and Katharine McPhee. . . Who would it be? Either way, both of these beauties are going to be super-stars without American Idol, so no worries. But I would miss either one. Sadly, we have to say good bye for now to Lisa Tucker! We will miss her in the short run but will undoubtedly see and hear her in the future. Good luck, Lisa!
