Melissa McGhee Needs You to Show Her Some Love. . .

Melissa McGhee tried to turn it up a notch this week also, singing Heart’s “What About Love?”  Sadly, it didn’t quite come off, but I think it will resonate with a specific audience.  Whether they are big enough and vote enough to put her through next week remains to be seen. This is a tough song, and I was impressed with the first part of the performance.  She started off pretty strong, but she kind of lost it at places toward the middle and end.  It was like she was screaming too much and her voice just wouldn’t take it.  Randy and Paula liked it, saying that she was growing and that she took on a big song.  Simon said she shouted the song and that the last note would send her home.  I don’t think is was that bad, but when you compare her to the competition, it’s going to be tough for her.  We’ll see if her fans can show her the love she was asking about and put her through to the Top 12 next week.
