Everybody Loves Taylor Hicks

Taylor Hicks is shaping up to be quite an American Idol favorite. Who would have thought it a month or two ago? Well, apparently a lot of folks, but not Simon Cowell or me for that matter. Of course, Simon has changed his tune lately, though not tonight. Barry Manilow said that Taylor is one of the best male vocalists on the show. . Of course, there are only a handful left. But, we know what he meant, right? So, Taylor comes out in a periwinkle suit looking very leisurely. He put on some swinging dance moves as well as a great show for the audience. It was a little dorky in my view, but people love him for that. It also wasn’t the most interesting vocal performance for me, but he pulled off a great “live” performance. Randy didn’t think it was a very challenging vocal but that he pulled off a good performance and had fun. Paula was jumping up and down during the performance and gave him a lot of mindless platitudes. . . Simon started with “Sorry, but. . ” He said that if you watched that performance for the first time and out of context, you would think it was a complete mess. Simon admitted that he likes Taylor’s voice but that it was a weak performance. I agree it was pretty weak. Hey. . did you notice that Ryan mentioned the George Clooney look alike bit?
