Chris Daughtry chose to sing Johnny Cash’s “I Walk The Line” in last week’s Fifties Theme night on American Idol. Talk about good song choices. . Or so I thought. Barry Manilow seemed a little overwhelmed by Chris. . And, why wouldn’t he be? Even though Chris was looking as sexy as ever, I have to say that I didn’t think it started off very well, missing a couple of notes and such. But by the second verse, he started pulling it out like usual and it started sounding better. But then by the end, it sounded weird again. I don’t think he was very happy with his performance. I wasn’t. Randy didn’t think it was the best of his vocals, but he liked that Chris put his own spin on it and was consistently “Chris.” Paula agreed that he is consistent and said that he should be touring already. Simon didn’t think it was the best vocal either but said it didn’t matter because it was distinct and that Chris is the only contestants that has refused to “compromise” on his style.
