Kenny Rogers was not too confident about how Chris Daughtry’s performance would go on American Idol country night. He said it would go one way or the other since country was out of Chris’ area of expertise, so to speak, but that Chris cares so much he would probably make something happen. After Simon’s admonition last week that Chris needed to do something different, I wondered what would happen. Chris also started off the night singing sensitively and seated on a chair. He missed one of the early notes, but once he found his key, it was nice. I forgot that he actually has a nice, clear voice. He didn’t do his usual screaming raspy thing. It was a really nice performance and I think that it will increase his votes. He’s just HOT any which way you look at it. Randy thought it was good that he switched it up and sang a song instead of doing the rocker thing. Paula thought he showed versatility and stayed true. Simon thought it was nice to see him switch it up but that it was a really boring song and the audience deserved more than that. I kind of agree with Simon on this. It was a little boring, but I can appreciate what Chris was doing. Check out the Chris Daughtry video clip:
