Crap! Bucky Covington is Growing On Me. .

I almost forgot that Bucky Covington was still a contestant on American Idol. I’m sure he was in hog heaven though since it was country night this week. He also had the coveted last position on the show, which means. . much to my displeasure. . that he won’t be voted off the show this week. Damn. That means someone infinitely better will have to go. . But, before we get to that, let’s see what he does. Once again, Bucky was given advice to ANNUNCIATE. . this time by Kenny Rogers. Unfortunately, I think what that did was make him a little nervous on a song that he otherwise would have sailed through. I still couldn’t understand more than a few words of the song, but I could see that Bucky actually has a beautiful voice. Yes, I still think he’s young and not very controlled and not at all polished, but I can see he’s got some talent in there. I guess he’s . . . gulp. . . growing on me. Anyway, the point I’m making is that the pronunciation thing got to him. . he still didn’t annunciate the song at all but he was self-conscious about it and so this made the song a little uncomfortable. That’s too bad because I actually think it could have been amazing. It was still pretty good. So, after seeing that. . I am retracting my criticism of Bucky’s pronunciation. Go ahead and sing like you do, Bucky. . Be a country-fried Tom Waits. It suits you. . No once cares that they can’t understand a single word of Tom Waits either. . or Bob Dylan for that matter. . so go for it. Randy thought it was just ok but it was a good song choice for him. Paula didn’t have much to say. Simon said that it was ok. They want him to go. .
