chose to sing “Unchained Melody” for her future boyfriend, saying that she didn’t have anyone to play pottery with. . . The coaches warned that her song choice could be one of the most beautiful ever sung or the most boring if done without any intimacy and feeling. Guess where I think Kellie would go with it. She started off sitting down and singing flat. . damn those low notes. I guess she looked ok with her hair pulled back. She sounded good when she was hitting the high notes but her surface personality is now bringing her down because the performance was boring, just like the last couple of weeks. It’s so interesting on the show because the producers gravitated to her so early because her big, bubbly personality televised well in the sea of unkown entities. But as the show has gone on, all the other performers have grown and their personalities have begun to show. . But instead, remains a superficial caricature of herself. She can do fun songs ok but she is lost with these personal and intimate songs. There’s no connection whatsoever. Randy said again that she looked like she knew what he was going to say for a second week in a row. He said that there were pitch problems and it was a bad song choice. Paula said that at this stage it’s really hard but that she doesn’t see Kellie raising the bar each week. She said at this point it is about greatness and that she did not feel this from Kellie’s performance. Simon said that Kellie’s performance deserved tears, referencing Paula’s decomposition for Elliott, but for a very different reason. He thought it was the “never ending song” and was so monotonous and bland and no heart or warmth, likening her to a robot. Simon had lots of additional negative comments but the producers turned up the music to cut him off. . don’t fuck with their girl, Simon! Yeah, Kellie is unraveling and the other contestants are eating her lunch.
