Taylor Hicks chose to sing “Take Me Home Country Roads” on last night’s American Idol. It’s a classic song, and ultimately a decent choice for Taylor to sing. I think he did a pretty good job at it, especially in the last half. It did seem like he was straining and whiney in a few places. It’s not that difficult a song to sing and he didn’t put much “Taylor” into it. Overall, it was an adequate performance. But nothing special. Randy thought it was a decent choice but that the vocal was not that great, with little personality. Paula agreed and said that the song choice didn’t highlight his abilities . Simon thought it was safe, boring, lazy with no rehearsal and nothing special. Check out Taylor Hicks singing “Take Me Home:”
