Taylor Hicks chose to sing “You Send Me” on this week’s American Idol. He looked the same as he always does. . .I’m so bored. Black suit, grey suit, black suit, etc. Well, I take that back, he changed it up on Queen night with black jeans, right? Anyway, the performance was 100% pure Taylor and it was excellent, if you like Taylor’s voice and style. Just when you thought he was going to get through the performance without doing the chicken dance, he started the herky jerk. . It was actually quite good. He sounded great, looked good, and was perfect for that song. He hit the ending out of the park. Totally professional. Randy started to freak out on how good everyone so far had been, saying “what a difference some different music makes. . I’m just blown away that all of you guys are in your element. . . It was hot!” Paula said that Sam Cook would have been proud and that Taylor was in his element and had proven that he can go the distance on the show. She said every note was perfect and the ending was superb and the best take on the song. . adding the soul patrol is on fire tonight. Simon said he initially thought “lame cabaret” when it first started “and then (with a snap of the fingers). . magic.”
