Round Two started off with bringing back her now infamous “Somehwere Over The Rainbow.” Again, this would be tough given how amazing it was the first time she sang it. This time, she did start off the same as the first time, sitting on the stage under a single spot. Her voice sounded a little frail on the first verse, not near as clear as the first time. Again, she pulled out her earpiece after the first verse. I guess this was not a mistake last time but a necessity in switching from a cappella to an accompanied piece. She was trying to keep it slow, soft and tender in the beginning before bringing out the big guns, as they say. Sadly, they didn’t do the close ups on the big screen behind her. It was a good performance. . If nothing else, it showed that the first time was no accident. Her dad was brought to tears again. At this point, I have to say I started to get very annoyed with the show. How lazy and SAFE to be doing all these repeats. It’s like watching the greatest hits album, eventhough they have no greatest hits yet. I totally get why the producers and contestants would cop out like this but gimme a break. Nothing interesting happening on this show. Randy said he initially thought it would be anti-climactic as a repeat, but changed his mind and thought she worked it out. “It was hot.” Paula said it was no mistake that she has god given talent saying that every father across the country was sharing in her father’s tears and that she has made everyone very proud and every little girl proud who wants to dream and aspire to be [like] Katharine. “Congratulations, you own it up there.” Simon said that Round One she got slaughtered but that she came back with her best performance of the competition, just like last time she sang Rainbow. Second was singing “Levon.” Woohoo. . . I’m so excited I can’t stand it. Ho hum. I’m really bored now. He started off soft and thoughtful. You know, sensitive. . like you could trust him with your daughter. He sounded good though. And, he actually tried to do it a little differently than before by mixing up the runs toward the end. It was nice but it was a re-run. Randy said it was nice but a little pitchy. Paula said that the pitchiness was just Taylor getting into the song and showing the “essence” of who he is. Simon said that didn’t make any sense, which is correct. Simon said that Round Two goes to Katharine, leaving the competition in play. Round Two:
