Katharine McPhee was selected to sing “I Can Believe I Can Fly” by Clive Davis on tonight’s American Idol. He said that she needs to create her own “Katharine McPhee sound” and he slipped that “when we record together” I want a Katharine McPhee sound. . . Nice! He was very positive. Katharine came out in a nice aqua blue dress and was looking gorgeous. The first part of the song was soft and sweet and she did it flawlessly with nice audience connection. She was looking very comfortable. In the last half, she had to do some serious runs and hit some very high notes, which she didn’t do 100% but nonetheless, I got chills listening to her. She’s definitely on her way to creating her own unique something. Randy hated it and started off by saying she was hot. He basically doesn’t think she is “that kind” of singer. Paula added that the color she chose was nice and she’s pretty. . “as a woman.” Whatever!!! Paula hated it also and as she was trying to offer contstructive criticism . . someone from the audience screamed out, “She’s incredible!” to which Paula agreed. Then Paula and Randy started talking about bad song choice to which Katharine graciously offered “I didn’t pick it!” Simon said that Randy and Paula got it wrong and they were being unfair to her to which the audience cheered. He added apart from a few bum notes at the end, “you kind of created a moment there for yourself.” I agree with Simon. Meanwhile, Ryan mentioned the obvious that Randy was being “disrespectful” to Clive Davis by saying that it was a bad song choice. Simon loved this!

Shes sooo used to getting praise after praise after praise that when she gets one bad review shes like grrr n stuff..I read in a magazine that the first bad thing they said about her, she was brave for the camras but when she went backstage she balled her eyes out. Enough about Kat being more talented… can she play any musical instruments? Lets face it, if this wasn’t just singing and they allowed harmonicas, guitars, drums, saxophones, this contest would have been over months ago. Taylor can play any instrument BY EAR! Kat can sing (sometimes) but Taylor can put on a show!
