Well the top four came out on American Idol singing a nice little medley of Elvis songs. . Each one of the remaining contestants got their solo time, as expected. I really don’t like medleys that much. . . I find they don’t give you enough to bite into, if you know what I mean. It ended with all four of the jumping around on the catwalk in the audience. Nothing special. They talked to Rebecca Romaine extensively in the audience and I have to say that she’s pretty cool. Can’t wait until X-Men, but that’s a different conversation. She asked Taylor to do Jailhouse Rock one more time, to which the producers happily obliged. Based on this alone, I’d have to say he’s in the front running for winning the competition. Ugh. You know he is not my favorite. And before the Taylorites start emailing, let me just say that I appreciate him and think he’s a great performer. . He’s just not my thing, that’s all. So on with the elimination. . .Ryan brought all four out with Taylor and Elliott on one side and Chris and Katharine on the other side. Of course, they went to commercial break but based on the Dial Idol and ZabaSearch rankings. . I think we have to conclude that any of the other 3 could be in the bottom 2 but Taylor seems to be the front runner. So, this meant that probably Chris and Katharine were the bottom two. Let me fast forward to find out. So, back after the commercial, Ryan comes back and askes the audience to decide before saying that Elliott and Taylor were safe. So, it comes down to Chris Daughtry and Katharine McPhee. Who would it be? I think we all knew the answer. Simon said that Katharine should go based on last night. And then. . . SHOCKER!!!! Chris Daughtry goes home!

He got ROBBED! I cant freaking believe it. Now to the point that I am not watching that show being it is all rigged b.s.
I’m having a hard time believing it too. Definitely robbed. Look, I like Taylor well enough, but he’s so damn cheesey I can’t take it. Katharine’s hot and they need a woman, so I approve. Elliott is average in my opinion, so I would have liked it to be him. Sure, he’s a cutie-pie bet still. . . at this stage it’s serious.
All that said, at this stage it’s primarily a popularity contest and not so much about who’s “best.” It’s all pretty subjective. .
Definitely a shocker….surprised that Chris & Katherine were in the bottom two as I expected Elliott & Taylor to make the bottom two based on popularity, & not following the ZabaSearch or any other dial-a-ranking on the internet. I agree with Shocked Guy…he was robbed…but as much as I think he was the best, I didn’t want him to be #1, but #2 so he didn’t have to followed a pre-described destiny his first year…one that he might not like all of the choices/activities scheduled for himself….now on with his career, and we are are bummed he got bumped off early can buy his music to support him!!

My husband and I tried all night, from both our cell phones and our house phone and we could never get through to vote for Chris. I am absolutely amazed that he got voted off. I am sick about it. About as shocked as I was when Tamyra Gray got voted off.
What’s holding this Elliot Yamin guy up? He must have a genie in a bottle or a picture of Cowell in a compromised position, because he should’ve been gone long ago… certainly long before Daughtry, Bennett, or Pickler. Too bogus for words!

When the results were read, I literally could not breathe. This show is rigged!! Chris was in another league!!! No one on the show worth watching–unless you like the goof factor of Taylor!!!

I have to say i like all of the final 4 but Chris in my view is the best. I am not voting anymore since I dont care who wins now and cingular is not geting anymore money from me for the texting. I am mad, If and when he has a record out I will definatly buy it.

I would love to have some of what these vote talliers are smoking. I think that they forgot to carry a zero or two. This is total BS and the fox people should think long and hard about calling a mulligan. I wouldn’t be surprised if the show is canceled by next season. So I surely wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow figure out that there was some kind of clerical error. It’s too bad that everyone assumed that he would win. Obviously that must be what happened. There isn’t a person (or at least 30 million people) on this earth that would have predicted this outcome. Vegas sure must have scored tonight. There will be no more viewers after this BS. Who wants to watch a show with a bunch of amateur losers. This is American Idol not American Dip****. This really freakin’ p’s me off. I agree with the comment that it is better for Chris and I hope he does join Fuel because I love them, but it causes me to lose an hour and a half enjoyment out of my week so F*** ‘em.
I think there’s something wrong with the vote tally tonight. Chris should not have gone home. I really think there were electronic problems with recording the votes and that Chris deserves another chance to come back next week. This is NOT right! Chris is the NEXT American Idol!
ok first of all chris was getting way to full of himself and the people of america could see this…his head was getting too big for the stage..second katherine is going to win.. I have said this from the beginning when the tryouts were going on…third taylor is not cheesy he is unique…and forth elliot has one of the best singing voices ever to be on the american Idol stage…. no I’m not saying chris couldn’t sing he just doesn’t know how to be famous…he would work better with a band
First of all, Chris might have a little bit of an ego, but who wouldn’t if they sounded that damn good. Secondly, Taylor isn’t necessarily cheesy, but he is not an American Idol. He is nothing more than night club entertainment. Yes, Elliot has a good voice, but he looks like a jackass when he sings and he has no charisma. Chris has great charisma and has the ability to capture the ear of the listener. Anyone can learn to sing. Not everyone has star power, though. Let’s look at it like this: Do you see Katherine, elliot or Taylor selling 5 million albums? Not a chance. People might vote for them now, but that will all change when they put out an album. It’s like making a compliment to the zit faced, ugly kid. You are just doing it to make them feel better and to make yourself feel better. You feel like you are overindulging yourself if you vote for the obvious choice. Nobody wants to feel like they picked on the retarded kid.
I know that you are upset that Chris is gone but you have to admit that Taylor has talent. He is the only reason that I have watched this entire season. I have never watched AI before until I saw Taylor audition and then I was hooked. He has talent. Look past Chris and be open minded and see that he is DIFFERENT. Something I haven’t seen in a long time.

I CANT BELIEVE IT!!! Chris was the best male singer on the show! It should’ve been him and Kat at the Finals, not in the bottom two! This show is Fixed and this makes it all the more obvious. Paula is choosing favorites and thinks every note out of Elliots mouth is PERFECT (which is BS), and idiots all over the country think Taylor has talent (which is even MORE BS). Kat was the only one that was good enough to compete with Chris and make it interesting, now you have a beauty and 2 BOZOs as the top 3. Judges are biased, Paula is now more than EVER full of it. False hope for Taylor and Elliot… They should’ve been gone LONGGGGGGGG TIME AGO… nothing left now but to vote for KAT and get her as the American IDOL cuz the other two are aweful!
I believe the show is either rigged (Can’t understand that though because they just lost the BEST contestant they’ve ever seen) or the voting lines were messed up. I dialed for 2 hours straight using two phones constantly redialing and only got through about 8 times. My boyfriends parents voted for their favorite idol (Taylor) about 5 times and got through every single time!! Messages were being posted Tuesday night on the chris’ board on the american idol website telling people not to vote using dial idol because instead of having Chris’ numbers under his name it was dialing Elliots numbers for him. There were also several messages posted Tuesday night and Wednesday before the results show that people were having a lot of trouble voting, Error messages, busy signals, adult lines Etc. I think this needs to be investigated. THE AMERICAN IDOL JUST LEFT!!!

to over the top…he should just MC the show and stop acting like
a jerk. I see that all this money Seacrest is making is making
him act and look like a real idiot. Come down to earth BRIAN this
silly acting might just turn on Desperate Housewife lady but not
America. Randy is a fun guy, somedays he just looks like he does not give a hoot about the show and then he does. Paula, I do like
a lot but she seems to be a bit spaced out, but I do feel that if she
got married and had a family she would be less spaced out because she would have something to love and love does make things really great.
I think last night sucked. I really wanted Chris to make it, last year I wanted Bo to win and this year I wanted Chris. I believe something has gone wrong but since there has been so many errors in the past they don’t want to tell anyone. Why don’t they use the wild card like they did with Clay and bring him back. I refuse to ever watch this show ever again. Katherine or Elliott should have gone home last night. Katherine forgot the words and Elliott has funky facial expressions. Chris was the greatest idol ever. I hope Chris makes and ablum and does better than any of them.
Letter to American Idol:
This absolutely disgusts me. Chris is the only reason I have ever tuned into Idol. The show must be rigged. I am a 34-year-old nurse whose heart needs some CPR (stat)! Just what you want to hear, right? All the controversy and media you have intended. Do me a favor and knock King Taylor off of the “throne” you’ve had him on all along. At least give it to Elliott the next most deserving and talented contestant. Then you’ll have some extreme ratings and drama.
This show sickens me. Chris could have set a whole new standard and attracted a massive surge of fans from a distinct, exciting genre of music you single-handedly are choosing to dispose of. Unfortunately you’ve lost us now. Idol is like the Miss America Pageant filled with hokey, cheesy, outdated, safe performances. Certainly not cutting-edge. You should be ashamed. You are as hip as The Lawrence Welk Show. Elvis is thrashing in his grave at this very moment.
I watched the show witih a bunch of others. We all had cell phones and voted for our favorites after the show. We discovered that when there are only 4 people left, it not too hard to tell who is going to be voted off. To vote for Elliot was near impossible Tuesday night. Similar for Taylor. It was not difficult to vote for Chris Daughtry. Friends were getting through to him piece of cake. Even easier was voting for Kat. One girl in the room got through her line 5 times in a row with no busy signal (about an hour into the voting period). So we had it pegged by the end of the night that Chris and Kat were going to be bottom two.
In regards to Elliot, he made it through because he brought it Tuesday night. I think people went into “Save Elliot Mode” because he was the underdog and was just so good! That may have hurt Chris. People just assumed he’d make it through and voted for Elliot instead. Same thing happened to Tamyra Gray. She was the best that year. It just proves that at this point in the show when only a few are left, no matter how good you are, you have to bring it every night.
Wow! I see that Chris getting the boot has had a major impact. I guess I was surprised even though he had been in the bottom before. . I think he was on his A game on Tuesday, but they all have avid followings at this point, so it’s really just a matter of whose fans get through on the phones more. I’m not sure I’d say the count or show is rigged though. Either way, I think it sucks and am glad that a lot of people here agree.
Let me tell you, I’ve been getting so much crap from the Taylorites because I am on record hoping he doesn’t win, that I was wondering what happened to all the Chris Daughtry fans. . .
Though each of the contestants have had their shining moments, Chris was consistently in a different league. . Ultimately, it may work out best for Chris, as the writer above mentioned. . he will not have to do all the cheesey Idol stuff over the next year and will be more free to follow his musical interests.
I am a Bassist for over 25 + years & i am totally shocked over this , he is the last guy i was expecting to see go tonight , he’s been consistent & awesome throughout the competition , he had one week that was so so , every other week he’s been great .
Everyone should protest since i had 3 phones for 2 hours & never got through when my whole family was trying to vote for various contestants . It’s unfair that you cannot get through a national phone voting line , it’s so unfair & unrealistic , this kind of thing shouldn’t happen when a competition is based on votes , if you cannot cast a vote then how is this fair .
I hope this gets blown up like a hot air balloon because what the producers are doing here is totally not fair to anyone in the competition .
Taylor should win it all & i hope Katherine gets what she deserves with her terrible high notes that she sounds so so bad attempting , she sounds like she’s in pain & it’s pain hearing her try to sing the high stuff , it’s pathetic !

Man….Sick is just the word for how I felt after hearing his name….I will agree w/ what someone else said about not wanting him to win the whole thing…With his kind of music, I think Idol would hold him back…..But he did not deserve to go last night…..I am even from Alabama and I am not pulling for Taylor…..Chris had real talent and I know that we will see more of him real soon…..I bet the offers will pour in as soon as his whole Idol contract is up….

I can understand why Chris got voted off….I have taped every episode since season 1 and still have them and watch them….I record artists and have recorded many….And the one thing that I noticed that they all have or can do is sing in different tones, styles and medleys….Chris had one style and it was the same tone to his voice all the time….just like Anwar last season….Taylor also has one style but is learning to differentiate….Elliot has soul…but can sing slow or fast…and Kat can do it all!! Just like Carrie Underwood…eventhough country was her best genre to sing…she could still pull off “celine dion” or “whitney houston” type songs…I dont think there was a mistake…the hero always falls…he was a favorite of mine but this happens…he will be fine.
Well.. We think that Elliot shoul’ve gotten kicked off.. Chris is WAY better then all of em.. we are both real idol fans. Chris is way better and America knows NOTHING!!.. grrr.. p.s. send me an e-mail about chris.. and u can throw in an autograph!!!

This is sooooo wrong. Noone can convince me that he was out voted out. This was either RIGGED or something went wrong with the phone lines. He has more talent than anyone in this entire season of Idol – any was loved by all, young/old, men/women, etc. Somebody needs to examine this closely to find out what the problem was. I personally don’t know anyone who will watch this show ever again after last nights show. WE’RE ALL STILL BACKING YOU CHRIS!!!
I never watch Idol till it comes down to the last month or so, and in the time I’ve watched, Elliot has made serious progress, but has little stage presence. Catherine can sing, but has no clue how to modulate that voice of hers. Taylor…..well….yuck. Maybe a nice guy, but yuck. I haven’t heard him ever sound particularly good and he’s painful to watch. Would I buy a CD from any of these three? No way! But Chris…always on mark, on key and always raising the bar. He’s stepped into every genre as though he owns it. He’ll do fine post-Idol. No reason to watch now. I hope Fox wasn’t doing this to boost ratings….(I’m a cynic, I don’t believe for a minute that the votes are all that go into it)

Ok everyone! My mouth dropped just as yours did when Ryan said Chris was going home. He is my favorite just as Bo was last year (even though my taste in music is more of the Taylor sound). America is NOT ready for “rockers”. I bought Bo’s record immediatly (Carrie Who?) and when Chris’s comes out, will get his as well.
Let’s wish everyone on the show luck…Kath, Elliott, and Taylor. Apparantley they have SOMETHING America likes. Kath would do great singing Norah Jones, Elliott is more of a gospel singer and Taylor should give us some Joe Cocker.
Keep watching and keep voting. I know I will miss that sexy bald held and those piercing eyes and that oh so yummy voice, but hey, let him go home to his wife and kids!!!! They need him more than America!

Dumbfounded and shocked! There was no doubt in my mind that Chris was going to take home the prize… Apparently “may the best man win” is not the case here. We tried, as did many other people I know, to cal in and vote for Chris for and hour and a half and could not even get through, hmmmmm kinda makes you wonder doesn’t it?? He deserved to be the next “American Idol” more then anyone else on the show. He is the entire package, great voice, great style, great personality, great looks etc… He is in a totally different league. Oh well, he will make it big anyway! I look forward to buying his CD! I’m not big into admiting that I watch reality tv, specially AI. This year, I was open about it thanks to contestants such as Chris, Paris, and Mandissa. There is something seriously wrong with American Idol fans or with the phone lines. Taylor’s performance was cute 10 shows ago–He is just a wedding singer. The type you hope never to hire. He is annoying as hell!!! He is dorky and a one-act man. Hicks has a nice voice but, as many have pointed out, lacks charisma. Kat is cute and while she might not have the best voice, I can see her being a B pop start. I’m not a big rock fan. However, Chris rocked it for me….and for those of you that say he was getting to full of it, show me a true start that isn’t full of it. It’s called confidence!!!
