Katharine McPhee chose to sing “I Ain’t Got Nothin” But the Blues” saying that she chose an older song because she didn’t want to be compared to anyone that is in the industry today. . Wise choice. She came out in a nice black, baby doll dress with “come #$*@-me boots.” Listen, it would be hard to top her “Over The Rainbow” but she pulled this song off brilliantly. It was an unknown song, but it was fun, sassy, complicated and she performed it with spirit. Randy started off with “ok, look” so you know he hated it. He had a hard time recovering from the “Over The Rainbow” too and seemed afronted by her trying to do Ella Fitzgerald. Paula was equally non-plussed and recalled her killer Rainbow performance. Simon said that it as ok, and sort of like 5 steps forward and 1 step back with the last song, and that he wished for all the performers that the order was different such that we could have ended on the middle song because that is what he wanted to remember. Granted, it was hard to top Rainbow, but she did great on this one too.

Love the sense of humor but I would have said, “Sexy” not “Slutty.” . . Slutty is any performance by Britney Spears, but especially that dirty catholic school girl number. There’s natural talent and then there’s trained voices. Hers falls in the latter…good but not great, slutty not sexy. She’s the kind of girl who’s been kept under Mommy’s thumb for too long. Thats the kind of girl who wants to do guys all around the country so she can experience the control she’s never had growing up.

Cheap plug! And secondly congratulations to both contestants for making it this far but Katharine’s first and last songs were terrible. As the article on MSN.com said, Taylor brought it for the finals and has been better all year than Katharine. He may not be the best singer left (I agree Kat has the better voice (at times)) but she is inconsistant. How many times can we see here shake her ass, her dad cry, and her find something to complain about. She’s like Kevin Covais without the ass shaking and the dad crying. Complain complain complain. If it wasn’t enough last week when she said “You guys have been hard on me lately” or last night complaining about her “pitch” headset not working, making it obvious that she’s looking for votes.
