Katharine McPhee chose to sing “Black Horse and Cherry Tree” as her second song choice. She started out bare foot and crawling around on the floor and singing kind of sexy. You know, the backbeat on that song sounds like the song from “Triplets of Belleville.” This was a great source of distraction for me. Let’s just say that it was a very unusual performance but I liked it. She managed to pull off the crawling on the floor thing and she sounded really good and looked like she was having a lot of fun. Randy said it was a wild show tonight but that the song was more like the Katharine we know. Paula said she really liked the “intimacy.” Simon agreed it was a strange show but that compared to the first song, it showed personality, youth, etc. and was a good song choice.
