Taylor Hicks Dancing In The Dark With Paula Abdul

Taylor Hicks was given the song “Dancing In The Dark” by Clive Davis on tonight’s American Idol. Clive had some nice instruction for Taylor in the pre-performance interview but again did not offer any insights into what Taylor may be doing next, though he did say that he thought Taylor would “be great.” Taylor came out in his usual style. He sounded really good. Don’t get me wrong. He’s no Bruce Springsteen. It was great sound, but it was not edgey in the way that Bruce was in his prime and when he first recorded the song. Taylor was great though. He jumped around, got into it, and did his thing on the secondary stage with Paula. She loved it. Maybe she’ll switch her allegiances. Randy said that dancing with Paula was hot and that he loved the fact that Taylor knows how to have a good time. I think that Taylor fans everywhere could agree with this. Paula said that she wished she would have known because she would have gotten double stick tape for her strapless dress, but she had fun and he is incredible. Simon said it was okay, but was pale by comparison with the original. . to many boos from the audience. He couldn’t help but give a dig to Paula by saying that “for her age” she did well and looked like she was having a great time.
