Taylor Hicks Is Really Something

Taylor Hicks chose to sing “Something” by the Beatles as his second song choice. God, I really find him cheesey. He came out trying to pull off the burning sensuality thing, pausing an extra half beat here and there and staring longingly into the camera (audience). I reallyl don’t want to think about that. He sounded pretty good though and it was the type of performance that will get the fans to the phones. Randy said he chose a great song and it as a nice tender moment from him. He didn’t like it. Paula said it was a daring song choice and he moved it tenderly. Simon made a joke about how clever it was that Taylor could work a 30 year old song into a “hits of today” show. He also said that with all of Taylor’s antics on the show, it was easy to forget that he is actually a very good singer. He liked it. Taylor was surprised and looked very happy. I want to hate him, but it’s just not possible. I don’t think I’ll be buying his album but I definitely get his appeal.
