American Idol Finalist Jennifer Hudson Is Incredible as Effie White in Dream Girls

Every American Idol fan should run, don’t walk!, to see Dream Girls and revel in Jennifer Hudson’s post-American Idol glory as Effie White. I’m not generally one to get misty over movie musicals, but this show is fun, has incredible performances by everyone in the cast (with the exception of Jamie Foxx, sorry), and shows just what American Idol can do to bring a star to life, even if you only rank as a #7 finalist. My guess is that she gets nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars. . as she has already pulled down the Golden Globe nomination for the same. So much for what Simon perpetually called a “karaoke act” and a “third rate cruise-line entertainer.”
