I don’t know exactly what it is about Phil Stacey but I just don’t get into him. That said, this week I think he was better than ever. I’m not sure that means I liked his performance but it was definitely up a notch from weeks prior. Maybe if he would dress better. He started of very well and actually reminded me a little bit of Marvin Gaye in parts. He opened up with some big notes for the chorus and looked as if he was feeling the song. I didn’t like his last note, but he basically belted the last half of the song and it was good. Randy said that the performance was boring but the vocals were hot. Paula said that his vocals were great but the song needed to be more up tempo for a more exciting performance. Simon disagreed with Paula on the tempo for the song, and said that it was a good choice of song, but that on the big notes he tends to shout. . .not outstanding, but not awful, and better than last week.

Phil, Simon be damned! Tonight you were in your element and I thought your rendition of Night and Day was perfect. Please email me and let me know what you do after AI. I’d love to keep up with you and your beautiful family. You can sing to me anyday or night.
