Could Blake Lewis Be The Next American Idol?

Blake Lewis is really surprising. First of all, his intro on American Idol tonight was hysterical with the “Jimmy Walker Blue” character. . .I’ve got to get that on this site here and I hope we see more of it.

Then he came out and did a very hip performance of some song by 311 called “All Mixed Up.” It wasn’t a song that showcased his vocal range or anything but it showed that he is simply. . Cool. Mixing it up with the reggae and the beat box was incredible. We’ll have to see how it goes, but I’m beginning to think he could pull it off and win the show. . he’s definitely got a lot of the “package” that everyone talks about.

Randy said that it was great to have a current artist like him in the show and even though he didn’t know the song, he loved it. Paula also admitted that she didn’t know the song either. I’m glad because I didn’t and I felt . . . LAME! She emphasized how hard it is to sing a song no one knows and hold their interest and congratulated Blake on his accomplishment in this regard. So then it was Simon’s turn. He said that he couldn’t understand a word but that Paula and Randy were right that he stands out, is unique and makes it current, adding that Blake will definitely be around another week.
