Lakisha Jones dedicated her performance on American Idol this week to her grandmother. It was a sweet intro. Now, Lakisha can kick ass probably on any big black song but I was still a little worried for her given the iconic nature of the song. Despite my trepidation, Lakisha did it justice and added quite a bit of Lakisha special sauce to the performance. It was much more aggressive than the Pips. . . Randy said it started a little rough but that it was hot. Paula said she lover her. Simon said she did an interesting dance at the end and that she is a phenomenally talented singer, advising her that she should be comfortable knowing that she is going to be a big star and now she has to start acting and dressing like one. . which basically means take command and be confident. This was actually one of the nicest and most meaningful critiques that I think Simon has ever given.
