Lakisha Jones is no doubt the best vocalist on American Idol this year. She has such a big voice and perfect control and pitch. It’s tough though because she has a couple of things going against her. . One is her appearance. . This isn’t just her weight but the whole package. . Next is her personality. . She is very serious. . You can see that she is serious but she needs to get down and show a bit more of her wild side. This would help offset her appearance issue and would help get the crowd even more behind her. . as they are with Miss Personality, Melinda Doolittle. All of that said, she looked beautiful tonight. . Nice hair, glittering dress. . . She started “God Bless The Child” off slow and sultry. Then she kicked it up throughout the middle part of the song. She kept it a little funky and put a little sass into it. And, then she ended it with a nice jazzy finish. Randy said it was a perfect song choice, a great outfit and an unbelievable vocal . . sensational. Paula said that she is a beautiful performer, a beautiful girl, and that her heart comes through when she sings. Simon said that you’ve either got it or you haven’t and that she has it, adding that she and Melinda are in a different league, that she was in control, performed like a star and it was outstanding. She should win and I hope she or Melinda does. . but I know she can do even better if she just shows a bit more of herself. . Check out the tags on her and find the video I posted from a Houston audition she did pre-idol. Her vocals weren’t as good then, but she got down and groovy in a way she hasn’t on American Idol.
