Sanjaya Malakar dedicated “Stepping Out” to his grandfather and put on a little old school charm. It was a cute performance but a little boring to me. He’s cute and sweet and sings well and that will get him pretty far on American Idol and beyond. He’s definitely got a lot of potential but needs to kick it up a notch. He’s young. Randy was not impressed and thought it was weird and weak. Paula said that it was sung well and that he has an old soul but found it odd for someone at his age, advising him to celebrate his youth. Simon basically trashed him, saying it was like a ghastly lunch where after lunch the parents asked the children to dress up and sing and didn’t like particularly what they heard. Sanjaya came back with a nice tribute to his grandfather which will warm the cockles of America. . I’m not worried for him. Check out Sanjaya Malakar singing “Stepping Out:”
