Danny Gokey was introduced with a heart-felt story about the untimely and emotional death of his wife. He mentioned that his desire to sing and audition on American Idol was for his late wife so that people could get to know her through his singing. Wow. This is American Idol at its best.
He chose to sing “Heard It Through The Grapevine” by Marvin Gaye. He blew it out of the park, especially for a white dude. He had great tone, nice falsetto and pretty good stage presence to boot.
The girls loved it. Paula said it was soulful with good tone and rhythmn and that it was unexpected. Kara said she was a fan and that he had a lot of heart and soul. Simon said he really liked him and Randy said that he was one of the best they had seen. Paula agreed. They all sent hime through with exploding knuckle punches.

i wasn’t a fan of american idol until i saw danny singing 2 weeks ago ,but i had never seen the audition until now and he kinda disapointed me by using the sympathy card, i mean he should have more respect for his wife.his cute and got a great voice but dont look sincere..i think im going with anoop or adam now…

I looove danny, he has a great voice, he’s representing milwaukee, and even tho he did lose his wife I would do anything to go on a date with the sexy singer. Go dannny! Either way something good will come out of this for him.
