Jamar Rogers chose to sing “California Dreamin.” He has a really powerful voice but he was a little over done. It kind of hurt my ears in places. I liked him though.
Paula said he can sing but it was too loud and was off pitch at times. Kara said that it was over done. Randy said a little over the top. Simon said good but a bit corny. They all sent him through anyway though.

I just can’t believe that the judges sent Jamar home. I’m a big fan of American Idol however, after Jamar was sent home, I decided I didn’t want to watch this season. Jamar can SING! He has talent. Isn’t that what the show is about? TALENT I know the judges don’t care about my opinion but I must say that they have disappointed me.
So do the judges honestly believe that Jamar wasn’t better than welder guy? He was much better than at least 5 of the guys that went through to the next round. Not better than Titiana and all of her drama? Please!
Idol Idiots! Why would they send him home and keep Tatianna (however you spell it) . Jamar can sing. Paula even asked him would he come back next year. Of course he said absolutely. This is a major mistake and I hope they regret it. This is disappointing.
I’m way behind on my American Idol DVR watching, so I haven’t seen tonight’s episode but from what I gather, Jamar didn’t make it through. It seems a little surprising to me cause he definitely can sing. Obviously people are bummed because tonight this is the blog entry on this site that is getting the most comments!

I can’t believe this. Worse thing they’ve ever done… Jamar was one of my top 5. Nick/Norman over him? WTF!!! Nothing againist the blind kid, but I didn’t think his singing was all that great, but he will get ratings. That’s what it is about I guess… Sympathy gets the votes. We are sure to see Nick/Norman in the top 10 now. Let’s not forget about votefortheworst.com and all they can acomplish.

a sad day in idol history, time for a new show with some real moral fiber..
As Creative Director of VIMBY.COM and constantly exposed to vocalists and bands across the country daily from the best of the unsigned to the artists getting major pushes from established labels, Jamar Rogers has one of the most relevant and unique voices at this moment.
His style, personality and charm combined with his soulful voice put a refreshingly new twist on an old school sound. I’m extremely perplexed with the decision and can only assume that they have something on him that is forcing him to leave the show.
If that’s not the case, the judges and the producers have made a terrible decision. It’s clear Jamar is more talented than (at the very least) 30 of the others chosen… if not all.
Sorry judges. Just can’t take you serious from this point on. Jamar, reach out to me. We’ll showcase you on VIMBY so we can see more of you.

The decision to send Jamar home was by far the worst decision. I think Jamar stands out not only with his voice but his great personality. The fact that the judges kept people like Von, Tatiyanna, and the others that forgot the lyrics during Hollywood week!!! Terrible choice by the judges!!

Jamar is out and Norman Gentle is still in. He was clearly in the top 10. I’m done watching this season. Maybe they’ll get it right in season 9.
TOTALLY AGREEE!! JAMAR WAS ONE OF THE BEST. These judges never fail to amaze me with their bogus decisions sometimes. They really do let really good people go sometimes. I think there had to be some other reason why they didnt let him through other than the lie they told him, that he didnt “stand out”. Maybe they didnt want him to outshine Danny. Who knows. It made me very annoyed with the show and once again disgusted with the dumb decisions they make sometimes.
I am in shock and disbelief!!! How could the “judges” miss this one?? Correct me if I’m wrong but they praised him this whole time and yet shot him down over the likes of Norman Gentle, Tatiyanna (sp?) and Von (with his overly loud self). He’s got the look, the voice.. total package. I think AI8 is looking for a schtick, a gimmick and a HOT MESS!! Jamar, you were awesome and if you get a deal, I will definitely be there to get my cd!! Love you JR!!!!!
OMG. Sending jamar home and when it would have been such great entertainment to watch him and his best friend Danny with so much talent, the two of them would of uped the bar for everyone. we are so disappointed that they chose for us to have to suffer with people like Tatiana, who is so irritating we can not, and will not, watch her. Poor decision!
I feel the same way, everyone. I’ve watched Idol from the beginning and haven’t really been upset by anything, but this time I’m furious. Nathaniel, the bald country welder (who is okay, but better than Jamar? no way) and Nick making it over Jamar? Very bad decision. I loved his Delilah rendition and I loved his voice. And it was obvious from the other contestant’s reaction when he came out they felt the same. You judges screwed up!
Jamar has a good voice, comparable to Al Jareau. It’s a shame that the singing competition has turned into a drama queen/king circus.
I am beyond furious about Jamar getting the boot. He was one of the most entertaining singers, and had the whole look going along with it!!! I mean, really, they’re gonna keep the annoying girl along with others, over Jamar? I hope Jamar reads some of these blogs so he know what a TERRIBLE decision Idol made with this one. By far the worst decision so far on Idol HISTORY!! Im close to boycotting the show!!
Absolutely nuts! They made a point of showing how good Jamar was and didn’t even let him sing-off? Are they hoping everyone makes a big deal of this so the show gets publicity?

Idol judges have definitely lost their minds. How on earth could you have sent Jamar home. He was definitely in the top 10! I have certainly lost confidence in you Simon. You were normally straight forward and on point. What is happening! I can not trust you guys to do the right thing any more. What a waste!
I Didn’t expect Simon to cave to the Drama hype, but he did, so all hope is lost for this show. Another one bites the dust, so long Idol.
To me he was definitely top three all time on idol. I looked forward to more of his performances. He was better than his friend. They are both really good, but he was better and there is no way he should have got the boot. He had style and an awesome voice. I thought he was another John Legend, maybe even better. He did stand out. The judges just let the real American Idol go home. I have lost faith.
When judges are faced with a TRULY ULTIMATE TALENT like Jamar and give him a pass, it reflects badly on their credibility as judges. But maybe it is time tthat heir predjudices are exposed on prime time. They obviously don’t want the real talent to go thru, They obviously have their own political agenda. For Shame For Shame For Shame on all 4 of you. Is there any one of you 4 honest enough to stand up and give the real reason why you excluded Jamar? The world is waiting for an expalnation.
American Idol has meant so much to me and my kids. To gather around and pick our Fave 5 is the most fun. Jamar made it on everyone’s Fave 5. I can not explain to my kids why he’s off. They all have lost interest and faith in the show. They are now doubting that prayers don’t work. They prayed Jamar was going to be in the top 5. Good one American Idol, no more concerts for us, no more cds, t-shirts, dvds and no more American Idol Seasons for us. Producers and judges ought to be ashamed, we deserve a better explanation than Kara’s “risk” excuse. I know American Idol is all about ratings, but the integrity of competition should be fair. C’mon, even Jamar’s competition were in utter dismay and stunned by the disasterous decision. Very difficult to watch from here on out. So we’re not watching at all. I was extremely shocked to see Jamar get the boot from idol. he was by far one of the top 3 male vocal singers in that 36. Come on, judges, do the right thing and bring Jamar back!!!
Stunningly bad decision. One of the best vocalists with a great attitude. The relationship and subsequent competition between Danny and him would have provided a very interesting and authentic dynamic to this season. American idol is usually better at hiding their seedier decisions; such as, setting up tone deaf contestants in the audition process and making it look spontaneous. However, the decision to send home Jamar was clearly motivated by something other than his talent and you could see it in the judges’ body language. They looked like they were lying. And, they didn’t dare have a sing off with Jamar, because that would’ve made sending him home even more of a farce.
I can see keeping it fun by having a few loonies running around, but not at the cost of great talent from a great guy. Surprisingly, there is a limit to our superficiality.
Bring Jamar back!

I was PISSED!! That guy has a serious spark…Star power and talent. How could Norman and other make it and not him?? The show is a joke.
I loved him so much. He should have made it farther in the show. He’s hot, he is a fantastic singer, and I’ll be looking out for him in the future.
I was sooo angry when Jamar didn’t get through! Shocked. he wasn’t my favorite, Danny was (and still is..), but he is really good! I was especially angry because right before the judges told Jamar he didn’t get through, Danny said that they would sing together that season. That would have been great, them singing together on tour…
But I think the reason the judges didn’t let him through was because they didn’t want the two best friends competing against each other, so they picked the better one,(and the one with the sad story) to go through. I know that Paula wanted him to go through because she asked him if he would audition again. (it was Paula, right? It was awhile ago…)
Anyway, Danny said that he was trying to get Jamar to audition again, but after that he didn’t say anything else, because you’re not allowed to. I really hope Jamar did audition! We need him back!
