It didn’t take very long into Season 8 of American Idol before the producers of the show started amping up the display of sexual tension between Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell. During the San Francisco auditions show, there was so much footage of Kara and Simon going at it, so to speak.
These two were bickering with one of another as if they were some old married couple. They were pushing each others buttons so much I felt like they should have gotten a room. It’s a good thing that the show isn’t live (yet) because they’re bound to end up punching each other in the face just before they crash over the judges table and go at it like a troup of bonobo chimps!
Now, of course, it’s never that easy to tell what is real and what is staged on American Idol. I tend to skew towards the view that everything is hyper-controlled and produced. After all, that is what the show is all about. But, perhaps there’s some truth behind their pecking. . . Either way, it will be interesting to see where their love-hate relationship goes this season.
