Ace Young Voted Off American Idol Amidst Stunning Voting Shake Up
This was a crazy week on American Idol. First of all, the performers were pretty much all fantastic, except for Kellie Pickler. Then on the elimination show, it became evident that an American Idol shake up is going on with the voting public. Now that it’s getting down to the wire with fewer contestants each week, every vote counts. Also, we’ve gotten to know at least in some way each of the contestants and it appears that early allegiances and voting patterns may be shifting.
Ryan separated the 7 contestants into 3 groups: Elliott Yamin, Kellie Pickler, and Katharine McPhee in one group and Chris Daughtry, Paris Bennett, and Ace Young in another group. Taylor Hicks was left on the couch and told that he may or MAY NOT have the highest number of votes but that he was definitely safe. He was then instructed, so sleazily, to go and stand with the group that he thought America had chosen as the bottom three!
How evil was that?
Which group would he choose? The one with Chris Daughtry, Ace Young and Paris Bennett? Yeah, Ace had been weak on the show, but CHRIS AND PARIS?????
Or, would he choose the group with Elliott Yamin, Kellie Pickler and Katharine McPhee? Kellie had been a clear stand out throughout the show, as had been Elliott but Katharine was a wild card? Could Katharine be in the top 3 or 4 on the show, while CHRIS AND PARIS are in the bottom 3???
Taylor in a massive fake out to Ryan, walked over the Chris, Paris and Ace and shook the hand of Chris Daughtry, then as Ryan started to say “Taylor, I’m sorry. . “, Taylor turned around and walked over to the other group with Elliott, Kellie and Katharine, with Ryan correcting himself and acknowledging that this group was now the top 4.
So, most besides the Ace-aholics would not have been surprised to see Ace in the bottom, but CHRIS DAUGHTRY AND PARIS BENNETT????? Most polls had Chris and Taylor running neck and neck for the top spot this year. Has Taylor so eclipsed Chris at this point?? Apparently so. Chris must be shitting car parts!!!!
What’s also interesting is just how far Katharine McPhee has come from somewhat obscurity on the show to massive star power now. Is she behind Kellie or Elliott? If I had to mix my best guess with fact . . the current ranking is:
1. Taylor Hicks
2. Katharine McPhee
3. Elliott Yamin
4. Kellie Pickler
5. Paris Bennett
6. Chris Daughtry
Of course, this means that we say goodbye to Ace Young as he is voted off American Idol. To those who have been reading, you know I love Ace. But Ace was never as confident in himself as the other contestants and held back his personality. . . He came across as sweet and gorgeous but he never pulled off that beyond amazing performance that the others had at least once throughout the show. Ace handled it with the grace we’ve come to expect from him and he sang his song pretty well.
Now what is stunning is that Chris Daughtry was in the bottom alongside Ace. What the hell. Okay, maybe his performance didn’t get his rock fans to the phone but I thought he was pretty safe sailing through to the top 3. . I’m a little scared for Chris for next week with Andrea Bocelli. He’s going to have to do something extraordinary next week to stay in the competition.

I’d like to know what the hell happened?! It should have been between Ace and Chris. The eyes on Ace, the voice of Chris…. I really think Paris and Kellie should have been gone long before now. No one wants another “dumb” blonde, even if she is pretending. Especially females. Paris is good enough but she’s so young and needs more practice. Ace and Chris proved they could do all different types of music and they have the stage presence to be idols. They both looked pretty damn good!!!!
