Kia Thornton Audition for American Idol

So, I’m not sure why the judges were all goo goo gaa gaa over Kia Thornton. Maybe it was because so many sucked so bad and they had to listen to thousands of people. She definitely can sing and I would have sent her through, but I wasn’t blown away. Maybe my issue was that she was singing Aretha and frankly, no one can sing Aretha but Aretha.
I think Randy, Paula, and Carol gave the best criticism in that she shouldn’t try to just belt out the song but be a little softer and intimate.

i’m not sure if you are aware of this but Kia was in the girl group Divine, and they had a Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit in 98′ called “Lately”, and a #28 (George Michael remake) hit called “One More Try”. but their record label folded, leaving the group to do the same. So unfortunately Kia had to start fresh and part of it was her AI audition. If i’m not mistaken she wasn’t promoted to the top 24 because AI is for amatures, and Kia (despite it being for a brief while) was already in the music industry, therefore it wouldn’t have been fare for the other contestants. I feel so sorry for her. But i’m glad that she hasn’t committed suicide, or even taking drugs like my FAVORITE ARTIST Fergie once did when her group (Wild Orchid folded). I hope Kia keeps her head up and keeps trying like Fergie did, cause look @ her now!
