Rudy Cardenas Kicks Off American Idol With a Fun Performance
Well, I can appreciate Rudy Cardenas’ comment about having to eat a lot of ramen and mac-n-cheese as a struggling musician. . . Let me tell you, not only musicians go through the mac-n-cheese career phase. I’ve been there!
I guess it was appropriate that they previewed Rudy on tonight’s show by showing Simon’s comment that he had “heard it all before.” Then Rudy came out and shined with his rendition of “Free Ride” - or whatever that song’s name is. I thought he sounded very professional and he was clearly having a good time. It was a very fun performance from a clean-cut guy like him.
Randy gave some props about getting the “party started” but he thought it was corny and run of the mill. Paula - looking fabulous, I might add - said that no one else has started so lively. She liked him. Simon said he was not unique and that he doesn’t have a distinctive voice, adding that the song was dated and that his song choice was not distinctive or unique.
Eh, I think he did a good job.
