Thoughts on Ryan Seacrest
A very engaged reader sent me the following email tonight. I am just now watching the show, so I will comment afterwards. But, the email was so thoughtful, and clearly the reader spent a lot of time on it, so I thought I would post it here. Not sure if the reader was thinking that we are an official American Idol site, but I will just say again here that we are not! IdolNotes! is an all-fan site, unaffiliated with the show, its producers, or underwriters. We get a lot of emails that sound like maybe there is some confusion out there.

I think Ryan Seacrist is a weenie and very rude and unprofessional. When he thanked 2 of the judges on tonight’s show and didn’t thank Simon as well he looked petty and very unprofessional and rude. He doesn’t have to agree with Simon but professional protocol should nonetheless remain the same and all judges were due appreciation.
Get rid of Ryan - or at least get him on a leash - he angers Simon and adds tension - he needs to get over his insecurities and allow Simon to do the job he is there to do.
Some bantering may be entertaining but its getting to the point of not being enjoyable to even watch the show. I personally adore Simon and to see him constantly bashed and harassed is almost enough to make me want to turn the channel. I hope things change as I’ve been a loyal fan of the show but not everyone is so insecure to dislike or disagree with Simon. Treat him with respect he does a marvelous job!

I agree. Ryan was way outa line. Not funny. He’s a host, not a producer. Simon should get some legal advice on this one.

I don’t know about getting legal advice. They’ve been doing this for 6 years now and they’ve got the show down pat. A lot of this is just entertainment. Ryan needs to get over the whole veiled homo remarks. . . He used to celebrate his “metro-sexuality” and now it seems like he’s uncomfortable with it. . . But that all said, I think they are told to do this to add some conflict. . .
