Chris Sligh Takes On Endless Love on American Idol
Chris Sligh chose to sing “Endless Love” on American Idol this week - sans glasses. Bad move with the glasses.
He started off pretty nice, I thought. . but as he moved into the chorus, he started going off pitch in places. He did a different spin on the song than we usually here, which made it interesting and unique for me. . He pretty much nailed the bigger notes, so I would give him some kudos. . it was certainly better than brandon rogers.
Randy said that the bad part was that it sounded like cold play and it was a weird thing to do to that song. He said that he has a good voice but the melody was a mess. Paula was more diplomatic. She commented that the song is so recognizable and a beautiful love song and that he could have just sung it rather than trying to make it cool. Simon said he murdered the arrangement and turned a beautiful song into a complete droan, saying that it was uninspiring, unemotional and that he should keep his glasses on.
